The Illinois State Museum
Springfield, Illinois

Discover the land, life, people, and art of Illinois. Permanent and changing exhibitions tell the story of Illinois. Changes: Dynamic Illinois Environments is an all new natural history experience. Through hands-on inter-actives, thousands of authentic fossils and natural history specimens, life-sized dioramas, and exciting audio and video effects, Changes explores 500 million years of environmental change in Illinois. Peoples of the Past presents Illinois' rich Native American heritage through realistic dioramas and finely crafted artifacts. At Home in the Heartland is an interactive exhibit exploring the history of family life in Illinois. Changing art exhibitions reflect the diversity of art, both past and present. Visitors can touch, explore, listen, and create in A Place for Discovery, a hands-on children's gallery.
